DETROIT - Ford Motor Company is ebullient about its first year-over-year sales increase since November 2007. Hummer is a brand of off-road vehicles sold by General Motors (GM). The original H1 version was based on the military High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV, or Humvee). However, the H2 and the H3 hummers were introduced as a smaller civilian market version.
